Bryan Kolstad - How Creative Activities Can Help Your Work

Bryan Kolstad is a professional marine mechanic who enjoys a wide variety of other hobbies outside of work. He is a very creative person, and two of his favorite things to do include playing the tuba and clay modeling and sculpting. No matter what type of work you do, there are many ways that creativity can help improve your day-to-day life.

- Being creative reduces your overall stress levels, which will help you perform better on any task that you engage in. When you are highly stressed, it inhibits your ability to think clearly and work at your peak, so if you are starting to feel tense or worried, pick up some colored pencils, a microphone, or a pen – a little bit of creativity will help.

- Engaging in creative hobbies will improve your overall sense of imagination and ingenuity, which will make it easier for you to problem solve and come up with new ideas when you are on the job. Even if you don’t work in a particularly creative field, the ability to think outside the box will set you apart from the crowd and help you get more work done.

- Being a well-rounded person can help you open your mind to new opportunities and challenges, and make you feel comfortable enough to push yourself in ways that you may not have thought of before. What starts as just a hobby can end up having a huge impact on your professional life. Bryan Kolstad has found that when he uses his creativity as a mechanic, he finds solutions much more quickly and efficiently.
