Bryan Kolstad

If you’re self-employed or are lucky enough to own your own business, you get to set your own hours. Not everyone is cut out for the nine to five life that a typical job requires, which is one of the main reasons some professionals set out to create their own business. If you have the ability, you can do most of your work in the evenings or early mornings, depending on what time you’re in the most productive mood.

In addition to setting your own hours, you also get to pick the jobs or tasks you want to perform. If you don’t feel like working with a particular client or performing a specific task, there is no one above you that will force you to do so. Although you’ll need to take a certain amount of jobs in order to be successful, you aren’t forced to do specific work.

If you’re your own boss, you can also make the majority of the money. There will always be times when some of your own pay has to go back into the business or service you provide, but being self-employed means you get to keep the majority.

Bryan Kolstad enjoys being his own boss, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Bryan Kolstad - Some Easy Clay Sculpting Projects for Beginners

Bryan Kolstad is currently serving as a marine mechanic in Portland, Maine, and he has been working in the community for many years. He enjoys boating, and being able to maintain the boats of other enthusiasts as well. In addition to his work, Bryan Kolstad is also an amateur clay sculptor who enjoys working on simple projects. Here are some easy projects to start with.

Create what’s called a pinch pot. These are both pots and bowls that are a great project to start with for beginners. They get their name from the style used to create them, which means the sculptor pinches the clay in order to form the desired shape. They only take a few easy steps to finish, and you can get as creative as you want regarding the outside; add some designs and textures as you get more comfortable.

Candle votives are also a great project for beginners because it really only consists of two steps. First you create the base, and then you create four sides that will ultimately hold the candle. Simply attach them together when you’re finished while the clay is still soft and malleable. These can also become more intricate as you get better with practice.

Coil pots, bowls, or even cups can be other great project for beginners to practice. This involves creating long, somewhat thin rope shaped clay pieces that are then layered in order to create the shape you want. There is an endless amount of final shapes you can create using this method.

Bryan Kolstad enjoys spending time with clay and sculpting projects, and he continues to improve.

Being creative can help professionals reinvigorate their productivity overall, and actually perform better while on the job. Here are three ways being creative can help your work to the best of your abilities.

Engaging in creative activities reduces your overall stress levels and relaxes the mind. This is great for any professional working in a fast paced environment because it allows the mind a break. Being creative focuses the mind on something enjoyable, which acts like a refresher. Stress can inhibit your ability to think clearly, so it’s important to focus the mind on something else.

Taking the time to indulge in creative activities will also increase your mind’s ability to think outside the box. Being creative means to think of things differently than the people around you; this can be a coveted talent as a professional, especially if you work for a company that it trying to distinguish itself from the competition. The more you engage in creative activities, the faster you’ll be able to see creative solutions to difficult problems.

Being creative also makes you a well-rounded person, which means you’ll be more likely to try new things. Performing creative activities can boost your self-confidence, and give you the push you need to take that next challenge. Self-confidence is something that is valuable in all facets of life, so it is something to work on as an individual. It will help you both professionally and in your personal life. People who don’t typically undertake creative projects are often intimidated by trying something new, which won’t be an issue the more activities you do.

Bryan Kolstad enjoys spending time on his creative endeavors as well as his work. He finds that when he takes the time out of his day for himself, he is able to return to work refreshed and more productive.

Bryan Kolstad - Basic Boat Safety

Bryan Kolstad is a marine mechanic who works in Maine. He has been a lover of boats for his entire life, and began working on them at a very young age. Boating is a hugely popular activity in Kolstad’s hometown, because of the abundance of natural water bodies nearby. In fact, boating attracts thousands of tourists to Maine every year. However, it is important to be very safe and cautious when out on a boat to prevent any accidents. Here are some basic boat safety tips for everyone to follow.

-Always have life jackets on board when out on a boat, and try to wear them as much as possible. Wearing a life jacket could keep you from drowning in the event of an accident. It is especially important that children wear life jackets when spending time out on the water.

-Plan where you are going ahead of time, and keep a nautical map with you on the boat. Make sure you have a way to communicate with others while you are on the water in case you need help. If you can, take a GPS device with you, as this will likely be the easiest way out of a sticky situation if you get lost.

-Check the weather before heading out on the boat. Storms or even just high winds can cause serious problems for sailors, and it is very important to avoid sailing in conditions that you can’t handle.

Bryan Kolstad is always careful to stay safe while sailing.

Bryan Kolstad - Things to Do in Maine in the Summer

Bryan Kolstad is a native of Maine, where he currently works as a marine mechanic. He has continued to live in Maine for so many years because of the beautiful natural surroundings and abundance of things to do there. Summer is an especially wonderful time to visit Maine, as the weather is beautiful, there’s no snow to get in the way of things, and everyone is out having a good time, making it easy to socialize. Here are some of the most popular things to do in Maine in the summer.
  • Hiking: Many people don’t realize how amazing Maine is for hiking. There are tons of gorgeous trails, especially at Acadia National Park. Whether you choose to take an easy stroll through the woods or a challenging mountain hike, you’ll see some truly stunning nature.
  • Fishing: Maine is also home to some of the world’s best seafood, and one of the best ways to take advantage of that is by going fishing. The state’s abundance of ports makes it easy to find somewhere to fish. If you want to enjoy the seafood without the work, you can opt to visit one of the state’s many top-notch restaurants instead.
  • Berry picking: Although this may sound like a New England cliché, there are really so many beautiful places to go berry picking in the summer in Maine. This can be a great way to spend time outside with friends, and at the end of the day, you will have some delicious fresh fruit.
  • Visit a lighthouse: Maine has some of the United States’ oldest lighthouses. You can easily make a day of visiting the Portland Head Light or other notable lighthouses.

Bryan Kolstad - Essential Fishing Supplies

Bryan Kolstad is a marine mechanic who lives and works in Maine. He works on all types of boats, but frequently treats fishing boats, as fishing is such a popular activity in Maine. Like many Mainers, Kolstad also enjoys getting out on a fishing boat when he has some free time. If you are planning on going fishing, there are many essential supplies that you will need to get started.

- Rod: Every fisher needs a strong, durable rod to pull their fish in with. Look for one with a weight you are comfortable with and a strong reel.

- Line: You will need to keep lots and lots of extra line in your tackle box, because the small, thin material is something you will go through very quickly.

- Hooks: These are another item you will need plenty of extras of, especially if you are a beginner. These small items can easily get lost in the water or even on the boat. Be careful with them, though, as they are very sharp.

- Bait or lures: In order to catch the fish, you will need some bait. Different types of fish may respond to bait in different ways, but for the most part, basic worms should be fine. If you want to take things to the next level, though, you can opt for a lure that looks like a very small minnow, which will attract larger fish.

These are just a few of the many things you should keep in your fishing supply kit. Bryan Kolstad enjoys fishing in his spare time.

Bryan Kolstad - Why Archery is Good for You

Bryan Kolstad has many different hobbies that he enjoys in his free time, and one of his favorites is archery. He has been practicing the sport for years as a way to relax and meet new people. Many people around the world enjoy archery for several reasons. It is a very engaging sport that requires a lot of concentration and focus, and it is an incredibly fun challenge. Archery actually has several health and mental benefits as well – here’s why the sport is so good for you.

As previously mentioned, archery is great for improving mental focus and concentration. The amount of precision needed to hit a target is very high, and it takes time to develop this as a skill. Therefore, many people who practice archery find that their concentration starts to improve over time. Archery is also great for reducing tension, because in order to hit the target, you can’t be jittery; you have to remain calm and breathe. This is a great mindset to have throughout your entire life.

Archery also has many physical benefits. Although it is not a cardiovascular workout, it can be a great way to build strength and tone your muscles. Bows and arrows are actually much heavier than people would expect, so over time, you will tone the muscles in your upper body, and strengthen the bones as well. Standing up for such a long period of time can also be a good way to tone your legs. Bryan Kolstad is very passionate about archery, and enjoys these health and mental benefits as well.

Bryan Kolstad - Interesting Things You Didn’t Know About Archery

Bryan Kolstad took to archery as a teenager. After his first time handling a bow, he immediately knew this was one sport he wanted to pursue and invested his time and energy in developing his talent. Archery has developed over the years and has become a popular sport in the United States and around the world. Bryan Kolstad shares a few interesting things you didn’t know about archery.

One of the Safest Sports
Archery is one of the safest sports, according to the National Safety Council. The sport is safer than golf and according to statistics, there has been only one injury for every 2,000 participants. In fact, archery is even safer than bowling.

Speed of Arrows
The speed of an arrow released in competitions flies at over 200 mph. That is about three times faster than a cheetah which is only about 68 mph. With the new line up of compound bows using high quality material, archers have been able to reach speeds up to 347 feet per second. Converted into miles per hour that amounts to 263 mph.

Archery Disappeared from the Olympics
Archery was introduced to the Olympics in 1900 but was dropped in 1920 because there was no uniformity in rules and equipment. It was only reintroduced to the Olympics in 1972, and has continued to be a major sport ever since.

Bryan Kolstad is a toxophilite – an archer. Toxophilite is from the Greek word “toxon” meaning bow and arrow, and “philos” meaning loving.

Bryan Kolstad - What You Need to Know About the Compound Bow

Bryan Kolstad is a man of varied interests. He is an experienced marine mechanic who enjoys playing golf, the tuba, clay sculpting, and archery. He started archery class when he was a teenager, and continued pursuing the sport and is an experienced archer today. Archery is a popular sport in the United States and around the world. Bryan Kolstad shares a few things you need to know about compound bows.

It is easy to identify a compound bow because of its multiple strings and pulleys on either side of the bow. The compound bow is widely used in both 3D archery, bowhunting and field archery around the world. The reason many archers use the compound bow is because of its “let-off” capacity.

The “let-off” capacity is the point during the draw when the archer holds less draw weight. This allows the archer more time to aim and is particularly useful in hunting. When buying your first compound bow, you want to look for one that has a fairly low draw weight. This should be regardless of the archer’s strength and the “let-off” the compound bow has. To begin with, you might want to get a simple, affordable compound bow that will help you learn the fundamentals of the game.

Your first compound bow should have a non-specific draw length, and match your eye dominance. It should have a light draw weight, don’t get one that is difficult for you to draw and control. You should be able to use your bow for at least six months to a year, so keep this in mind when you buy a compound bow. Bryan Kolstad recommends getting a compound bow you can afford.

Bryan Kolstad - Maine – The Ultimate Cruising Ground

Bryan Kolstad is an experienced marine mechanic in Portland, Maine. His choice to build a career as a marine mechanic in this area was mainly because Maine is considered as the ultimate cruising ground by boaters from around the world. With over 6,000 lakes and 3, 478 miles of beautiful coastline, Maine is a virtual playground for boaters. Having grown up in Portland, Bryan Kolstad has gone on boating trips to several places around Maine. Whether you are looking to try your skills with white water rafting, kayaking or just enjoying an idyllic boat ride to take in the spectacular sights along the Maine coastline, you will find your experience to be completely satisfying.

According to experienced mariners, the best way to see Maine is from the water. Taking a cruise off the coast of Maine offers spectacular views of the shore. A cruise trip along the coast of Maine will give you the chance to see beautiful sandy beaches, rocky cliffs, towering lighthouses, and remote islands. You can also stop at a couple of the bustling harbors, or at one of the quieter inlets and watch the seals take in the sun.

Bryan Kolstad recommends taking a lobster boat ride for a few hours. The lobster and scenic boat tour is a great idea for a fun-filled family trip. The tours depart from the seaside villages and harbors and offer half-day tours or hourly tours. You will get the chance to see lobster pots and probably even haul in a lobster trap.

Bryan Kolstad - Tips for New Boaters

Bryan Kolstad built a successful career as a marine mechanic and has worked on a variety of boat engines. He operates out of Portland, Maine and is provides a reliable and efficient service to boat owners in the area. Bryan Kolstad is a native of Maine and has spent his entire life in this beautiful state and enjoys playing golf when he is not busy working. He shares a couple of tips new boaters can use.

Overdress

If you are planning to take your boat on the water, you might want to overdress. The weather conditions on the water are normally different from that on land, so you might want to be prepared when you go out for a day on your boat.

Don’t Speed

When you are docking, you want to make sure you take it slow and easy. Going slow will ensure you do not damage you boat by colliding, and remember, pros take it slow as well. You rather go slow that speed up and end up paying for costly repairs on your boat.

Boat Launch Ramp

If you are using the boat launch ramp to get your boat in an out of the water, you will want to speed up things and no hold up things. There will be other people waiting to use the launch ramp as well, so make sure you do not hog the launch ramp.

Bryan Kolstad - How Creative Activities Can Help Your Work

Bryan Kolstad is a professional marine mechanic who enjoys a wide variety of other hobbies outside of work. He is a very creative person, and two of his favorite things to do include playing the tuba and clay modeling and sculpting. No matter what type of work you do, there are many ways that creativity can help improve your day-to-day life.

- Being creative reduces your overall stress levels, which will help you perform better on any task that you engage in. When you are highly stressed, it inhibits your ability to think clearly and work at your peak, so if you are starting to feel tense or worried, pick up some colored pencils, a microphone, or a pen – a little bit of creativity will help.

- Engaging in creative hobbies will improve your overall sense of imagination and ingenuity, which will make it easier for you to problem solve and come up with new ideas when you are on the job. Even if you don’t work in a particularly creative field, the ability to think outside the box will set you apart from the crowd and help you get more work done.

- Being a well-rounded person can help you open your mind to new opportunities and challenges, and make you feel comfortable enough to push yourself in ways that you may not have thought of before. What starts as just a hobby can end up having a huge impact on your professional life. Bryan Kolstad has found that when he uses his creativity as a mechanic, he finds solutions much more quickly and efficiently.

Bryan Kolstad - Best Moped Brands

Bryan Kolstad’s main mode of transportation for the past several years has been a moped, and he enjoys riding these small but powerful scooters for a variety of reasons. As a longtime resident of Portland, Maine, he rarely needs to travel too far outside of town, and finds that a moped is the perfectly sized vehicle for Portland’s small streets. Mopeds are also cheaper to use than cars, and are better for the environment as well. Purchasing a moped can be very overwhelming, because there are so many good brands on the market to choose from. However, there are certain brands that stand out from the competition.

Vespa is arguably the world’s most well-known brand of moped, and for good reason. Headquartered in Italy, the brand produces an extensive line of scooters to suit a variety of budgets and transportation needs. Because these mopeds are made in Italy, where city streets are much smaller and more people rely on scooters to get around, they are designed to be reliable for day-to-day transit.
Well-known car brand Honda also makes very high-quality mopeds in several different models. Their designs are sleek and stylish, perfect for someone who wants to look good while riding around town. Yamaha is another Japanese brand that is well-known for their scooters, which get great gas mileage and are lightweight but powerful.

Finally, car brand BMW is another reliable choice for great scooters. They are known for being very powerful, with strong engines that can reach over 100 miles per hour. Bryan Kolstad has owned many different mopeds over the years, and recommends all of these brands.

Bryan Kolstad- The Art of Clay Sculpting

Bryan Kolstad may spend his days working on boats as a marine mechanic, but in his free time, he enjoys clay sculpting. Kolstad discovered this hobby several years ago, when he decided to attend a class on a whim. He soon became hooked, and began making regular trips to a local art studio to practice. He has created several pieces of pottery that he uses in his home, including vases, bowls, and trays, and is currently working on a series of abstract pieces that are inspired by nature.

There are many different types of clay that you can use for modeling. The easiest kind to use at home is self-hardening clay, as it does not require firing in a kiln. Other common types of clay that do require firing in a kiln include ceramic clay and plastilina. These types of clay can be purchased at art supply stores. Other sculpting essentials include modeling tools, which help to mold and push the clay into your desired shape, as well as glaze, which should be applied to your clay before placing it in the firing kiln. You can also purchase paints to add color to your pieces after they have been fired.

If you are interested in getting started with sculpting, there are many different ways that you can learn. Many local art studios and community centers offer classes, which will teach you a variety of different techniques in detail. You can also consult one of the many, many books available on the subject, which will give you step-by-step instructions on basic projects, or even watch a tutorial video online, which is what Bryan Kolstad occasionally does as well.
